How to Join Hunter Swim Club

18 Nov 2025 by Club Night Race Secretary

Hi trial swimmers and parents,

A couple of families asked for information about how to join Hunter Swim Club, so I thought I would do a post for all trial swimmer families to access.

Memberships can be purchased through Swimming Australia's portal, Swim Central (swimcentral.swimming.org.au). This portal is used for a lot of 'official' swimming administration, including entering meets if you join (and your swimmer wishes to compete), so it's a good one to bookmark!

HOW TO JOIN

A family adult will need to create a profile (username/password) for Swim Central; and once logged in, you can update your profile with the required details. You can then add your children as Dependants.

Once the family is set up, you can go to Store where you will find a Membership section, and you can locate Hunter SC by either name or postcode.

There are two types of membership:
- Full Swimmer, which allows participation in Club Nights and Club Championships, and non-swimming Club events, as well as the ability to represent the Club if the swimmer wants to compete.
- Club Supporter, which was formerly called a 'dry member', is a non-swimming membership for parents, volunteers, Technical Officials, etc.

As part of our commitment to providing a child-safe environment at the Club:
- All members 18yo and over must have a Working with Children Check clearance (this is a free process through Service NSW if you don't already have one), and
- All members 18yo or under must have a parent/guardian who holds Club Supporter membership (and also a Working with Children Check clearance).
You will be asked to provide details of your WWCC number and expiry with your application, for verification.

In the Swim Central store, you select the membership that you want to purchase for each person, upload any requested information, and go to the Cart to pay for the memberships.

Our Registrar, Bec Roberts, will receive notification of purchases, and complete the back-end verification for membership.

Updated to add: The membership year for all Swim Clubs in NSW runs from 1 October to 30 September. We normally offer a discounted membership in the second half of the year, for the winter season. If you are looking to join in March/April, please reach out before joining, so we can help you identify the right membership.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
